Making a Difference in the Licking County Community

Chaplains Division

The Licking County Prosecutor's Office established the Chaplains Division in 2017 to provide counsel, social and/or spiritual guidance and religious ministry, when requested, to employees and their families in the Prosecutor’s Office, Licking County Law Enforcement agencies, Emergency Services agencies, Victims of Crime, and the citizens of Licking County when incidents occur for which a Chaplain's presence may be helpful.  The Division is headed by Cliff Biggers, Director of Staff and Community Relations in our office.

Central Ohio Regional Crime Lab

An idea that was just a concept in 2018 has become a reality thanks to the joint efforts of the Licking County Commissioners, Sheriff, Prosecutor, Newark Police Department, and many individuals and organizations who understood the need for a local laboratory to test drugs and provide other forensic services in criminal cases.  Over $200,000 in private funds were raised to purchase laboratory equipment for the lab which is now in operation.  Mark Hiatt is the Lab Director and Tim Elliget serves as the Criminalist for the new facility.

Prevention Project

The Richmond Justice Initiative (RJI) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate, equip, and mobilize communities to be a force in the global movement to end human trafficking.  The Prevention Project™ curriculum is Richmond Justice Initiative’s award-winning, signature prevention education program. The project provides curriculum, lesson plans and training for local teachers in middle and high schools to fight the human trafficking plague.  A local citizen has offered to  pay (anonymously) the registration fees for any school willing to participate.  To date six Licking County Districts have signed up for the program.
